The theme of the third annual Disability Studies Forum is “Disability History.” This event is offered to students, faculty, and the general public through the Interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Disability Studies at the University of Utah. There is no charge for attending the Forum events, but registration is required.

Visiting Scholars
The University of Utah is pleased to host Dr. Catherine Kudlick for the 2010 Disability Studies Forum. Dr. Kudlick is Professor of History at University of California Davis. She will co-present with Dr. Paul Longmore at the afternoon seminar, and will present an evening public lecture. Dr. Kudlick received her PhD and MA from UC Berkeley and BA from UC Santa Cruz. She is currently president of the Disability History Association. Selected Publications by Catherine Kudlick include:

We are also pleased to host Dr. Paul K. Longmore, Professor of History and Director of the Institute on Disability at San Francisco State University. Dr. Longmore will co-present with Catherine Kudlick at the afternoon seminar via video-teleconferencing. He specializes in Early American history and the history of people with disabilities. He earned his Ph.D. at the Claremont Graduate School and his B.A. and M.A. at Occidental College. Books by Paul Longmore include:

Special Attraction: History of Disability Exhibit
During the week of March 15-19 the University will host a traveling exhibit on the history of disability. This 21 panel exhibit, developed at the University of Alaska at Anchorage, will be displayed in a public area on campus and will enhance the experience of those attending the Forum.
Poster Session
The poster session will display student and faculty research and service projects. Posters will reflect the general theme of disability studies, not specifically disability history. Poster session attendees will be served refreshments and have an opportunity to meet the Visiting Scholar.
Academic Credit
Students who wish to obtain graduate credit for attending the Forum may register for PADMN 6860 or OC TH 6860 (1 credit).
